BUCS Indoors 2019

Saturday the 9th of November saw all of our squads do incredibly well at BUCS indoors, hosted at Leed university. The day started off with the men’s open weight 2k, in which we had four entrants. They all put in very good performances with Felix Rummel and Tom Bobrowski securing first and second place retrospectively

Leading on from the men’s success it was time for the women’s open weight 2k. We had 8 of the senior women entered in the category, all performed well with 5 in the top 15, several PB’s were achieved and Amy Hannam won bronze with an impressive time of 7.34.

Next up was the lightweight categories for the senior men and women squads. In the Men’s lightweight, we had four entrants. Darioush Jallili won the Bronze medal with a time of 6.56.4, and Lewis Cox placed 5th less than two seconds behind. In the women’s we had two competitors, who both put in good performances placing 7th and 8th.

After a quick lunch break, it was time for the novice squads to compete in the beginner 1000m category. The men’s squad went first, and we saw some very promising performances including Joseph Rodgers-Lang who placed 7th with a time of 3.16.8. The women also did very well with Lauren Auchterlonie coming first with a time of 3.43, Molly Chapman placed 9th. These results are a reflection for the hard work both squads have put in since starting late September.

Finally, the last races of the day were the relays, which saw MUBC do very well. In the mixed relay we secured 1st and 2nd place, 3rd place in the women’s and 1st place in the men’s.

Overall it was an incredibly successful day for the club and we would like to thank our head coach John Impney, our novice captains and all of the senior squad members who have helped with coaching the novice squads so far.
