On Remembrance Sunday one of our crews decided to battle the cold autumnal conditions and race the 2350m course on the River Weaver. Being the only MUBC crew competing there was a pressure on them to represent and show off the university’s potential. There was a strong headwind and by the time the third division started the sun was already setting. Our senior women’s double was one of the last crews down the course, set a strong rhythm to defeat the headwind, and came away top of their division by 2 seconds. Having been sat at the start, in the cold, for over an hour, by the finish they still couldn’t feel their fingers, however they say the wait was worth it because they got to see a kingfisher at the start.
Another good start to the head season for MUBC and we are looking forward to taking on York Small Boats head next weekend.
