Novice Race Day 2018

On Saturday 24th November four novice crews from MUBC took part in the annual Novice Race Day. The day started off at the Armitage where both the men and women’s novice squads gathered ready and excited to race. The annual race took place at Runcorn, as is tradition, with four other universities attending, including: Liverpool University, Liverpool John Moores, Sheffield University, and Sheffield Hallam.

The Novice Men were up first with two eights heading off to the start line. Both crews put down a performance they could be proud of with the first eight coming second to Liverpool with a time of 3 minutes and 12 seconds; with Manchester B taking up 8th place.

Next up were the women, who also had two eights racing that day. The Novice Women also put down a great performance with Manchester A taking 6th and Manchester B taking 7th. Despite being on different water and in different boats, kindly lent to us by Runcorn, all four crews made MUBC and especially their captains (Vicki, Danny and Josh) proud.

All in all, it was a successful day that provided the novice squads with the crucial racing experience that gave them a taste for future competition. A big thank you to Liverpool University and all those involved in organising the day.
