White Rose Head 2017

Last Saturday (02/12/2017), over 60 of MUBC’s best athletes travelled to York for the annual BUCS Endorsed, White Rose Head Race.

For our novices White Rose was their first major race. Both our novice women and novice men fielded two VIII’s to take on the course. All of our novice crews had great races, showing off all that they have learnt this semester.

Novice Women’s 8+ celebrating 2nd place

Results are as follows:
– Men’s VIII A crew: 8th (15:24:14)
– Men’s VIII B crew : 11th (16:40:84)
– Women’s VIII A: 2nd (14:56:48)
– Women’s VIII B: 9th (17:36:48)
– Men’s 4+: 6th (18:26:63)

We are very proud of everyone that competed from our novice squads who all showed great potential for next year, we are excited to see how well they can do at the upcoming BUCS Head.

For our senior athletes, WRH was the last event in what has been a busy semester of racing. Returning to the Ouse our women’s and men’s squad fielded over 8 crews.

Results are as follows:
-Men’s 4x: 4th (14:31:32)
-Men’s 4+: 2nd (12:35:60)
-Women’s VIII A: 6th (14:01:64)
-Women’s VIII B: 11th (14:59:49)
-Men’s VIII: 5th (11:46:03)
-Women’s 4X: 4th (14:01:77)
-Women’s 4+ A: 3rd (15:06:74)
-Women’s 4+ B: 7th (16:49:62)

Our senior crews performed incredibly in the cold conditions, demonstrating just how well the new crews have gelled together this year. Our seniors look forward to getting the miles in over the winter in order to go even faster at BUCS Head.

We would like to say a huge thank you to: the University of York Boat Club for organising such a great race, St Paul’s School for allowing us to use their facilities, our drivers (Tom Davies, Emily Harding and Bertie Gregory), our coach John Impey and everyone that coxed. We couldn’t have raced without you!
