So the long summer has ended, freshers flu is spreading and the stress of reading lists are starting to hit. But never fear, MUBC is here! We return again with busy freshers week ready to recruit the next generation of rowers and coxes. With more than 200 new students giving rowing a go for the first time at our numerous events, we can’t wait for the year ahead to start.
The week started with our Sprint challenge on Tuesday which gave beginners and experienced rowers alike the change to take on the erg in the glorious Manchester sunshine. From this rather calm event, we then had the Sports fair and first erg taster session. Finishing off the week with our taster weekend down at the boathouse. Filled with BBQ food and cake in their stomachs over a hundred rowers took to the water for the first time to get a feel for rowing. We even managed to have a successful ordering of sunshine and kept the rain away!
With more taster erg sessions and the first AU social the following week, the club is off to a great, yet busy start to the academic year!
