Matt has competed in almost every type of rowing event in almost every available class of racing, with over 150 wins and vast numbers of races. He has taken part in Henley Royal Regattas personally between 1981 and 2010;
Qualified as a coach to Silver level in 1996, and with many other relevant coaching and teaching qualifications, he was awarded the British Rowing Award for High Performance Coach of the year in 2002.
He has produced many athletes for the GB junior team from 1996 onwards, with several going on to race in the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Races.

- Wycliffe College 1995 – 2000
- King’s School Chester 2000 – 2005
- Liverpool University 2006 – 2012,
- Manchester University since 2012
Main aim: is to see many enjoy the art of rowing, and try to take this enjoyment to big events.
